Cover Reveal!
Hello CK Westbrook readers,
Book News
I’m going to jump in with book news because I am very excited. My children’s book, Liam the Vegan, has a cover - and it’s adorable. This story has been a passion project of mine for a few years. I spent time researching children’s books and sought input from experts. Even though it has fewer than 400 words, it still needed many, many revisions. It has completed the final text-editing process with 4 Horsemen Publications.
All of that took time, but the hardest part was finding the perfect illustrator to bring it to life. I think Jonathan has nailed it. The cover is whimsical, cheerful, and Liam and the animals are adorable. Scroll down to take a look. What do you think?
As for The Reason and The Outcome, they have been through the final editing stages. I hope to do a cover reveal for The Reason next month, and maybe even have a publication date. Stay tuned!

Current Events
As an environmentalist and sci-fi writer, I’m often mistrustful regarding modern space exploration, what with the pollution on Earth, leaving chlorine and black carbon in the atmosphere, where it warms it and depletes the ozone layer, and horrible space trash. Yet, I have to admit I was impressed with Artemis II. Is the destruction of Earth worth it? No, we only have one Earth, but some of this mission was interesting.
It was the first crewed flight beyond low Earth orbit since Apollo 17 in 1972. The astronauts traveled around the moon. What impressed me was that astronaut Christina Koch looked at the Earth, out there in that black, airless, inhospitable, lonely space, and called it a lifeboat. She said we must cherish it. She compared the crew on her ship, working together on a shared mission to ensure success and safety, to humans on Earth, and said we must be a crew and work together to save our home.
Every time someone goes to space and returns with that noble, inspired, beautiful lesson and teaches it to the world, I hope it works. I hope it gets through and changes people's behavior in the space industry and elsewhere. So far, it has not, but I remain hopeful. I discuss this topic more on Instagram in my Earth Day post (April 22).
April
April is my favorite month, despite the crazy weather. I love tulips and the cherry blossom season. This month, I saw lots of friends, completed house renovations, and celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary. These are incredibly dark and violent times, but it’s April and spring comes anyway. I hope you all had a lovely April.
I can’t express my deep gratitude to my readers enough. Thank you for sharing this fantastic adventure with me!
