Summertime, and the reading’s easy
Hello CK Westbrook readers,
Summer is here and some like it hot and that includes me!
Of course, I like the olden days hot when the summer was just hotter than the other seasons. Not climate change extreme weather massive fires drought hot - and let’s not talk about why there are so few chipmunks in D.C. this year.
If you are looking for a cool summer read, or one to suggest to friends and family, I highly recommend “The Impact Series!”
It’s great on the beach, at the pool, lake, park, campsite, or mountain cabin. These books are perfect for airline flights, train rides, and for listening on road trips.

AWESOME CON 2023
We had a blast at Awesome Con in Washington, D.C. I included some cute pictures here and if you want to see some fun reels, check out my Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or Twitter accounts.
I talked to lots of great people at Awesome Con and sold and signed many books. Awesome Con attendees include many hard-core science fiction readers. I was flattered that the series was well-received, but not surprised since the books are about extraterrestrials, space, environmental crisis, and a terrifying global calamity – themes and issues consistent with good sci-fi.

PSYCHOLOGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE
I have been pleasantly surprised by the interest in the series regarding its psychological thriller elements. The series addresses dark and depressing issues including gun violence, sexism, pollution, and the climate and biodiversity extinction crises and their impacts on our collective mental health.
I was thrilled to be interviewed by Dr. Karyne Messina on her Psychology and Climate Change Podcast. Dr. Messina is a psychologist, psychoanalyst, author, and member of the Climate Psychology Alliance of North America. She is a host for the New Books Network (NBN) and her channel is “News Books in Psychology” with an additional Special Series section called “Psychology and Climate Change."
The mission of NBN is public education. It is the largest book-focused podcast network in the world and reaches around 1 million people a month with listeners in every country in the world except North Korea.
Dr. Messina said she found “The Impact Series” intriguing because it touched on so many important and complicated issues. We did the interview for The Shooting on June 23 and will do the other two books in the not-too-distant future. I will post a link to the interview on the EVENTS page of my website when I receive them and include them in upcoming newsletters.
DRINKING WITH AUTHORS
For the “not so serious” readers, my interview on DRINKING WITH AUTHORS will be available on July 7th. I absolutely drank too much and found this interview to be very fun. I will post the link on the EVENTS page of my website and include it in upcoming newsletters.
